I managed to get several skills up to 100, including Swords, only to discover the secret skill cap, which meant when I raised cooking my Sword skill dropped. Then they implemented the Honor/Alignment system, and instead of getting murdered by single PKers, I would get goaded into fighting by one person, and then when I defended myself, the rest of his PK guild would kill me. Once I got strong enough to fight minor wildlife, I started getting attacked by PKers and all of my gear stolen, repeatedly. After I did so, I discovered that I could be murdered by small animals very easily.

I had to upgrade to Windows 95 and buy a new CD-ROM drive to get the game to run. That is, until someone cast a vortex elemental on a wall, that clipped through and killed them all.Īt the risk of exposing myself to ridicule, my experience with UO was so bad it put me off MMOs for years (and is most likely why I never tried EverQuest). which didn't stop us from setting a new farming operation, this time from the "safety" of a castle.

I think they ended up wiping the whole house just to free those poor sheep. only for the sheep to keep respawning right in place! trying to kill the sheep with fireballs, thunderstorms and whatever. so one day when I looked at the screen, there were this couple GMs running around shouting obscenities, setting everything on fire. We did pick a relatively secluded place for the farming operation, but either someone randomly happened to pass by and report us, or someone noticed there were NO SHEEP anywhere in the whole world anymore. apparently some GMs noticed something was wrong. Rinse and repeat, in short time we got enough gold to upgrade to a castle.īut just before we moved. Then it was just a matter of leaving someone with an auto clicker to collect all the wool over and over, and periodically pick whichever vendor paid most for it, and dump it all. we got this idea: buy a house, go around the whole map taming sheep, that would follow you through a portal, and leave them trapped inside this house. The buying price for stuff like wool, would vary wildly, in the order of x100, and you could sell all you had at that price before it reset to "market prices" in like 15 minutes or so. I will be checking this day to day for the next TWO weeks.I used to play on an unofficial UO shard, and one of the things we noticed, was that with much fewer people, economy was kind of "interesting", especially around the less popular towns. I am a nice guy who lives a normal life who creating something simply because he was completely tired of being constantly let down time after time when trying every large server in existance. Please keep it civil and keep it clean! I will also be posting this on our forum board as a global stickied post for awhile so my players can also ask me questions here for all to see. I could write an entire book of the origin of the server, how it has become and also the EXTREMELY tough choices i've had to make as an "owner" to get Ultima Online Forever to where it is today and ensure it continues to thrive for years to come for the players. I can market very well, and am good at what i do and know exactly what i want. I do web, graphic, video and marketing design as a real life job. Ultima Online Forever is my first server i've ever created. I am officially posting this to let our current players, new or old and any other gamers/players out there to ask me questions, almost anything at all, that i will answer 100% honestly. Hey everyone! I have noticed we are mentioned in this subreddit many times since we have launched.
